| Bruce Campbell is best
known for his role as Ash in the Evil Dead movies.
He has also starred in two of his own television series ( Jack
of All Trades and The Adventures of Brisco County Jr.) and
made numerous appearances on Hercules: The Legendary Journeys
and Xena: Warrior Princess as Autolycus: King of Thieves.
Bruce was born June 22, 1958 in
Royal Oak, Michigan, and started acting in community theatre as a
teenager. He started making movies in high school, when he
and his friend Sam Raimi began filming several films in Super-8
format. The duo, along with Rob Tapert, raised the funds for
the first Evil Dead film with one of their Super-8 movies, Within
the Woods (1978). The trio went on the make three Evil
Dead movies, and collaborated together on a range of other
projects.
Bruce is not only an accomplished
actor, but he is also a writer, director, and producer. He
directed two episodes of Xena, and a handful of Hercules
episodes. He co-produced all three Evil Dead movies
and was co-executive producer of his Jack of All Trades
TV series. He was also writer and producer of Man With
the Screaming Brain, a Sci-Fi
TV production, and has written his own book entitled: If
Chins Could Kill.
